This is what skiing is all about!

Happy times with good friends spiced with a bit of adventure. Add some quality snow and sunshine (..and some white-out touring..). This is what skiing is all about! Check out some random pics from Grand Chavalard and Dents du Midi. Thanks Heta, Pekka, Mikko, Niko & Henkka

Adventure skiing on Aiguille du Midi - Glacier Rond to West Couloir

Lift served skiing Chamonix style with Mika Joensuu and Mikko Heimonen. It's always adventurous to drop in on-sight to these big lines. You just need to be prepared for surprises... Great day out!

Dropping in to Glacier Rond

We roped up on this sketchy traverse to access the West Couloir

Mika Joensuu  abseiling down to West Couloir

Snow turned out pretty damn firm..

Recent serac fall had taken all the snow from the exit so we had to do a pretty unpleasant extra rappel under the hanging serac..

It was Friday the 13th, but luckily not for us...

Spring skiing on Luisin South Face

Some BW pics from our adventure to the Luisin South Couloir. I found this direct variation as one of the most beautiful lines in the area. Good day out with Mikko Heimonen.

January's powder blast and deep thoughts

January was a month of mix feelings. Finally it brought us some perfect powder days with incredible amounts of snow, great riding, big smiles, good times with friends.. But just as we're at it...the mountain community was again hit by some terrible news. Many of us have again lost friends. Sad times.

Now as it starts to look more like a normal winter, the conditions still remain unpredictable. For me ski-mountaineering and steep skiing is all about being at the right place at the right moment. There are lots of exiting things to do, but for any bigger ambitions patience is needed. The lines will stay there, so lets be patient and wait for that right moment!

Here's a really good article for all of us mountain freaks to read:
